On World Compliment Day, we are zooming in on our ENHANCING LIVES Ambition, one of the three goals shaping our company's sustainability strategy. In this, we are positively encouraging safety and well-being at work.
As validation is a key component of job satisfaction and motivation at work, we have introduced hero cards to encourage all Vandemoortele associates to regularly treat colleagues to a compliment.
At Vandemoortele, we foster the well-being of our associates. Not just for the sake of fulfilling our ambitions. We have a moral duty to enable our associates to optimise their well-being. Group Communication Manager Flore Couvreur underlines the importance of validating your employees: "Promoting the well-being of our associates also means encouraging them to appreciate and recognise each other for who they are and for the work they do. It is a small gesture, but with a big impact. A sincere compliment, written, spoken or with a smile is that pat on the shoulder we can all use from time to time to keep motivation high, create a good atmosphere and make us feel valued. "

Flore Couvreur: "Well-being is a highly personal matter: what makes one person happy may not work for another. That is why we ask our people to reflect on what their preferred flavours are. To allow for a tailored approach, we have identified seven aspects or ‘pillars’ of well-being: culture & values, physical health, mental health, social contact, development opportunities, the ABC of work happiness and good leadership. These pillars are embedded in our entire organisation. In our ‘Add Flavour’ campaign, the seven pillars of well-being are represented as parts of a lime wedge."
A sincere compliment is that pat on the shoulder we can all use from time to time.
Bring sunshine on a cloudy day. Be a well-being hero.
We believe heroes do great things. Even the smallest thing can be great. Like saving a dehydrated plant at the office. Or writing a card to your colleague. Maybe you missed them, maybe they did something admirable, maybe you appreciate them as a friend, or maybe you’d just like to have lunch together. Whatever it is, by simply sharing your thoughts, you can let the card do the rest.
Have a happy World Compliment Day!
