at the 21st edition of the Awards for Best Belgian Sustainability Report ceremony in Brussels, Vandemoortele won the Award for Best Impact Report in the large company category.

We are thrilled by this recognition, the professional jury and the public.

This year, the Institute of Registered Auditors (IBR-IRE) is celebrating the 21st edition of the Awards for Best Belgian Sustainability Reports, which reward and encourage organisations to report transparently on sustainability issues by promoting the integration of sustainability information, such as environmental, social and governance (ESG) data, into organisations' reports.

Evaluation criteria

This year, 47 organisations submitted their report. The jury used evaluation criteria that are largely in line with the GRI standards and include the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015.

It is time for companies to integrate sustainability into their strategy, governance and reporting

said Marc Daelman, chairman of the jury who also praised the organisations participating in the Awards, as they are already preparing for the new legal requirements on sustainability reporting and the increasing expectations of financial institutions or investors.

Praised

During the ceremony, the organisers shared why each finalist was elected. Our report was praised for its very completeness, creativity, integrated approach and governance. They also found it nice to read, and with a the right touch of creativeness.

Taking the stage

Before the announcement of the winner, each finalist took the stage. In the introduction, our CEO Yvon Guérin presented the company, the involvement of the Vandemoortele family, and their interest in putting sustainability more and more at the heart of the company.

Group Sustainability Manager Aurélie Comhaire continued by explaining our sustainability strategy, our goals and KPI's, and how these are integrated in different departments. Both our speakers captured the audience by making the Vandemoortele presentation closer to people.

We have a winner

The ceremony was followed by 250 interested people who also got to vote in the "best impact" category. Also some of our Vandemoortele Ghent colleagues joined us to the venue to give their vote.

"It was a very nice, warm, and supporting group", says Laura Iacobelli, Sustainability Officer. "Seeing the colleagues rooting and voting for us was such a great experience. When we saw we had the winning amount of votes, we were all cheering. After Yvon and Aurélie received the prize, everyone was thanked: from the company to the project leaders.

Our CEO concludes proudly " What an achievement! Super Team Vandemoortele!".
