More than 80 nationalities work at Vandemoortele. People with different gender identities & orientations, with a variety of convictions & beliefs. As International HR Day is celebrated on May 20th, we're diving into our Diversity & Inclusion policy. A topic that is close to our heart.

WHY WE'RE STRIVING FOR A DIVERSE & INCLUSIVE WORKPLACE
♡ Respect is a key value
Respect is the foundation of our identity, actions and our external and internal relationships. We act with integrity and respect for all.
♡ Diversity holds many benefits
Higher revenue growth, greater readiness to innovate, a higher ability to recruit stronger and of course more diverse people and higher employee retention.
♡ Our societal and moral duty
Building a diverse and inclusive work environment reflecting the society we serve.

OUR PROGRESS IN 2022
Between 2020 and 2022, we made significant progress in terms of gender diversity and inclusion. The number of women in senior management positions went up from 23% to 29.5%. We hope to scale up the representation of women to a minimum of 40% by 2025. We also made improvements on the amount of women identified as successors for management positions from 54% to 58.6%. This means that for 58.6% of our successor nominations, at least one internal female candidate was nominated.

At our company, we make sure everyone, regardless of who they are or what they do for the business, feels equally involved and supported in all areas of the workplace. Building relationships with people that have different ideas, working styles and cultural backgrounds holds a lot of benefits for us.
Did you know?
Since the start of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, our Polish plant in Lodz has welcomed many Ukrainian colleagues. To enable them to participate in ‘I CARE’, our online Peer2Peer tool to enhance workplace safety, we developed a Ukrainian translation. Within two months, the factory in Lodz registered nearly 150 interactions regarding safe or unsafe behaviour, being an active part of our strong safety culture in the workplace.
Today, around 50% of the factory workers in Lodz have the Ukrainian nationality. The majority are workers, others are covering higher roles in the production plant. Our company is also translating all our safety procedures, from safety inspections to toolbox sessions, in Ukrainian.
Marc Croonen, Chief Human Resources, Sustainability, EHS & Communication: "Diverse teams are able to produce better results and be more successful because they consider more points of view. Inclusive teams also have a positive impact on engagement, well-being and absenteeism."
