At Vandemoortele, we have a special responsibility towards our consumers. We take pride in offering food products that are not only tasty and of high quality but also demonstrably safe.

We also believe that collaboration is the best way to progress in this area. That’s why we have set up a research partnership with the University of Ghent.

In 2012, we started a scientific collaboration between Vandemoortele Lipids N.V. and the laboratory of Food Technology & Engineering Department at the University of Ghent, headed by Professor Koen Dewettinck. The Vandemoortele Centre for Lipid Science and Technology conducts research into fat technology, exploring new options and deepening our understanding of related health matters.

“We’re thrilled to work on the diet of the future with respect to lipid food ingredients. An essential part in this work is speeding up the transition from saturated to unsaturated fats, while maintaining structure, taste and functionality. This is why the Centre is investing in young talent and is organising the annual Vandemoortele Healthy Food Award.”  Professor Koen Dewettinck
