The new Focaccia Toast

There are numerous records of the Belgian Vandemoortele Group, leader in the frozen bakery market, margarines, cooking oils and fats since 1899. Today the company works to give the best to the foodservice market with the commitment to "contribute to the customer success by offering quality, service and practicality".

Excellence of the products is created with the quality of the ingredients and experience. So was born the exclusive novelty of Focaccia Toast, the original concept presented by Vandemoortele Italia at Sigep of Rimini 2019 and the result of research into the best-selling savoury snacks on the Italian market.

The story behind the toast

Since the nineteenth century the toast has always been present in our diet. This was when two slices of bread were cooked in a pan and browned on one side only. The real boom of the toast was in 1919 when the American Charles Strite succeeds in prefacing the invention and presents the first pop-up toaster with a timer and an automatic leakage method that allows to heat the bread for the desired time, without risking make it burn. In a short time, thanks to the birth of the sandwich or bread, the toast became a fashion item.

Winning features of the Focaccia Toast

So there is a challenge for the Focaccia Toast sandwich, which combines the winning features of both products.

  • Focaccia is softer than the classic toast (15x15cm).
  • Focaccia Toast has a more artisanal and “gourmet” appearance thanks to the openings and the golden color on the surface.
  • It has a shorter cooking time from the freezer to the plate (3 minutes against the 4 in the classic).

Proposed in three variants: classic, cereals or 100% wholegrain, the toast is sold in cartons of 16 pieces per variant.

So who will win in a battle on the toaster? Let's see!
